Professional Development - PowerPoint
PowerPoint is a great technology to use in any classroom setting. PowerPoint allows you to create a slide show on any subject for your students to either view in the classroom as you explain the material with them, or they can download and/or view the PowerPoint you have made on their own personal computer for learning and/or studying purposes. When working with PowerPoint it will be helpful if you are familiar with some other forms of multimedia as well. For instance, it is important that you understand how to locate pictures of your choice on the the internet if you choose to include them in your PowerPoint, this could be done using Google Images. Also, If you choose to make the PowerPoint available for you students to view at home it would be helpful if you had a classroom website, like a Weebly, that you could embed the PowerPoint into for your students to view.
In a K-2 classroom a teacher could create a PowerPoint all about Michigan using various pictures from the internet. Learning with PowerPoint can make the learning process more fun and entertaining for your students due to the fact that PowerPoint gives you the ability to add text, pictures, and sound effects to each slide. This way students could view a picture of the state flag as they are reading bullet points about what things on the state flag represent. There are various templates to choose from when you first begin to make a PowerPoint. Everything from a slide that contains just a header and a picture to one that contains a header, picture, and multiple bullets of text. Also, you can pick from different color schemes and/or texts as well as different transitions from page to page.
To begin using PowerPoint one should aim to accomplish a small list of goals for your first time working
